Support Focused on What’s Happening for You
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
People seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be questioning your gambling, gaming, or technology use, noticing that it is becoming harder to control, experiencing consequences, or simply wondering whether something needs to change.
You may also be affected by the gambling, gaming, or technology use of someone you care about and be looking for support with what you are experiencing.
There is no requirement to identify yourself or someone else as having an addiction before seeking counselling. Sometimes the starting point is simply having concerns, feeling uncertain about what is happening, or wanting an opportunity to talk it through with someone who understands these issues.
Counselling provides a space to better understand what is happening, consider how it is affecting your life, identify what matters most to you, and determine what you would like to work toward. From there, we can develop practical strategies and next steps that fit your circumstances and goals.
For Individuals
Support for concerns about your own gambling, gaming, or technology use.
You may be questioning the role gambling, gaming, or technology is playing in your life, noticing that it is becoming harder to manage, or experiencing impacts on your finances, relationships, work, responsibilities, wellbeing, or other areas of life.
You do not need to wait until things become severe before seeking support. Counselling can begin wherever you are—whether you want to better understand what is happening, reduce risk or harm, establish healthier limits, regain balance and control, stop altogether, or maintain changes you have already made.
You also do not need to have your goals completely figured out. We can explore your concerns, priorities, and options together and develop an approach that reflects what is meaningful and realistic for you.
For Family Members & Loved Ones
Support for people affected by someone else’s gambling, gaming, or technology use.
Gambling, gaming, and technology-related concerns can affect more than the person directly involved. Partners, parents, family members, and other loved ones may experience stress, uncertainty, conflict, financial concerns, changes in trust, or difficulty knowing how to respond.
Counselling provides a space to focus on your experience and what you need—not simply on how to change someone else’s behaviour. We can explore how the situation is affecting you, communication and boundaries, financial or relationship concerns, ways of responding to difficult situations, and strategies for protecting your own wellbeing.
We can also explore how to support someone you care about while recognizing the limits of what you can control and avoiding taking responsibility for another person’s choices or change.
You can access counselling for yourself even if the person you are concerned about is not receiving counselling, does not believe there is a problem, or is not currently interested in making changes.
A Practical, Collaborative Approach
Counselling is tailored to your circumstances, priorities, and goals.
There is no single approach to change that works for everyone. Counselling at RESET is collaborative and practical, drawing on harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and cognitive and behavioural strategies based on what you are experiencing and what you want to work toward.
You will not be told what your goals should be. We can explore your options together, identify what feels realistic and meaningful, and develop strategies that fit your life. For some people, that may involve reducing risk or establishing healthier limits. For others, the goal may be stopping altogether or maintaining changes they have already made.
The aim is to help you better understand what is happening, make informed choices, and build practical strategies you can use beyond the counselling session.
